Robert Centor, M.D. came to UAB as Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Centor served a two-year tenure as Interim Associate Dean for Tuscaloosa's community based clinical education program from 1995-1997. He served as Interim Associate Dean for the Huntsville Regional Medical Center from August 2004 until December 2005, when his appointment was made permanent. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and an M.D. degree at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV). He joined MCV's housestaff, eventually becoming chief resident. In 1981, he joined MCV's Division of General Internal Medicine, serving as director of the Housestaff Training Program for five years, followed by another five years as chair of the Division of General Internal Medicine. His research interests focus on medical decision making, and he has published widely in diagnosis work centered on helping physicians practice high-quality medicine, an interest stemming from his long-standing commitment to education.
